About Otto-Eldred Community Garden
The Otto-Eldred Community Garden is a thriving space that fosters connection, sustainability, and the joys of gardening. Thanks to the vision of the Sandy Lasher and the Eldred Borough and funding from local businesses, this beautiful garden, located between the Eldred Borough Offices and the Otto-Eldred Elementary School, was established to empower individuals and families to plant, grow, and harvest their own produce. With 12 raised garden beds, 1 of which is a handicap-accessible planting station, the garden is designed to serve gardeners of all abilities. The garden's mission is fourfold: to empower community members to grow fresh produce, provide education on gardening, promote social interaction and unity, and address food insecurity. In 2026, the garden partnered with the Otto-Eldred High School FFA program to grow out seedlings grown by students and to make them available to gardeners in spring. The beds were also constructed with help from the Otto-Eldred High School’s Tech Ed department. This Community Garden collaboration not only enhances communication but also creates a gathering space where gardeners can socialize, share tips, and celebrate the growing season. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, the Otto-Eldred Community Garden is a space to grow food, build relationships, and create lasting memories. Reserve your plot today and join this vibrant community!
